<p>PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of double registration by deciding the moving direction of a commodity by means of a scanner, and only when the moving direction is a previously set direction, transmitting bar code data to a commodity selling data processor. CONSTITUTION:When a commodity is passed through a reading window 12 in the scanner 11, the passage of the commodity is detected by sensors 13, 14 and a bar code applied to the commodity is read out by a reading part. The moving direction of the commodity is decided from the time sequential relation of the passage time of the commodity detected by the sensors 13, 14 and the reading time of the bar code read out by the reading part, and only when the moving direction coincides with the previously set direction, the read bar code data are transmitted to the commodity selling data processor 15. Even if the commodity is reciprocated on the reading window 12 again when the bar code can not be read out in the initial process, only the bar code data moved in the previously set direction is transmitted to the processor 15. Consequently, the generation of double registration can be prevented.</p> |
