PURPOSE:To obtain a high capacity density of a battery so as to enhance the rapid discharge property of the battery by forming a nickel covering layer on the surface of nickel hydroxide of predetermined filling rate. CONSTITUTION:A battery uses as its main body nickel hydroxide using a two-dimensional porous metallic plate as its core, and a nickel covering layer is formed on the surface of its positive electrode, and also the filling rate of the nickel hydroxide per volume of the electrode is from 2.1g/cc to 2.4g/cc. As a result, the conductivity of the surface of the electrode is enhanced by the nickel covering layer, and during the first period of charge the nickel hydroxide is uniformly activated on the whole surface of the electrode, and the activated layer is used as a base to accelerate uniform activation of the electrode in the direction of thickness at the following charge. |
