PURPOSE:To improve the detection precision of a descent by installing a calculating means for calculating the logic product or algebraic product of the first and second indexes and an instruction means which instructs of the selection of a prescribed speed change stage when the calculation value of the calculation means exceeds a prescribed standard value. CONSTITUTION:In a subcontroller 20, the shift average value of the throttle opening degree TVO is used for the physical quantity related to the combustion of an engine, and two functional tables (f(x), g(z)) are referred according to the information of the shift average value and accelerating speed (alpha). The logic product of the value f(x) as the first index and the value g(z) as the second index which are looked up from the both function tables is determined as the estimated value lambda of the descent inclination quantity, and when this lambda is larger over a prescribed standard value LM1, the descent passage traveling is judged, and ED is outputted, and a prescribed speed change stage is selected by an automatic transmission 12. In other words, as TVO is closed, the index f(x) changes to the larger value, and as the acceleration speed increases, the index g(z) changes to the larger value, and the degree of tilt can be displayed correctly. |
