A solid rubber or rubbery plastics tyre suitable for use with vehicle wheels, friction wheels, guide wheels for tracked vehicles has wire bundles embedded in the tyre base comprising coiled high strength wires which are embedded in such a way that the tyre will hold on its seating by simple application of pressure without recourse to auxiliary means. One half of the wire strands is provided with wires coiled one way whilst the other half is provided with wires coiled in opposite direction. The construction ensures safe seating of the tyre even with vehicles whose direction of travel is reversed frequently and at irregular intervals.
