Three cornered piston rotary IC engine - works on diesel cycle and has section of cylinder circular for high compression

The engine has a three cornered piston (3) revolving in a cylinder (1). The inner surface (2) of the cylinder is epitrochoidal with the exception of a section (5-5) which is circular with a radius (20) from a point (16) at the intersection of the annular gear (12) with the pinion (13) at top dead centre. The crank shaft (7) is mounted off-centre and its midpoint (11) describes a circle (10) about the centre of the cylinder. The annular gear (12) is attached to the crank-shaft (7) by means of a lever (14) which allows relative movement between them but not complete rotation of one about the other. The result is non uniform rotation of the piston which overcomes the problems associated with the operation of a rotary engine on the diesel cycle.
