Disclosed are additives which are useful as dispersants in lubricating oils, gasolines, marine crankcase 0116 and hydraulic oils. In particular, disclosed are polyamino alkenyl or alkyl succinimides in which one or more of the nitrogens of the polyamino moiety is substituted with a hydrocarbyl oxycarbonyl, a hydroxyhydrocarbyl oxycarbonyl or a hydroxy poly(oxyalkylene) oxycarbonyl. The e products can be prepared by reacting a polyamino alkenyl or alkyl succinimide with an alkenyl or alkyl succinic anhydride of the formula wherein R is alkenyl or alkyl of from about 10 to 300 carbon atoms. |
