PURPOSE: To mutually connect many optical inputs and many optical outputs so as to reconstitute them by providing the device with a reprogrammable optical storage means and a pattern generation means for successively generating many patterns in the optical storage means. CONSTITUTION: An input array P is formed by elements a1 to a3 , a coherent beam 10 is modulated by the array P1 and the modulated beam 10 is made incident upon a reprogrammable optical storage device P2 (dynamic hologram). The dynamic hologram P2 receives a coherent beam 14 modulated based upon the coefficients Ci1 , Ci2 , Ci3 of a spatial modulator P4 , through an acoustic- optical deflector P3 and a lens 12. An output from the modulator P4 is diffracted by the deflector P3 and forms its image on a specific position a'1 , a'2 , or a'3 through the lens 12. The coherent modulated beams 10, 14 interfare with each other on the specific position and form a kind of holographic grating. |
