PURPOSE:To enable briquetting of carbon powder of sufficient strength with a small quantity of binder by adjusting of the carbon powder of the specific grain size distribution and the binder compose of PVA, CMC and alpha starch to the specific moisture, high pressure-forming after kneading and drying. CONSTITUTION:The carbon powder containing >=30% of the powder having <=1mm grain size and the binder composed of one or more kinds of the PVA, CMC and alpha starch at 0.5-1.0wt.% ratio of the carbon powder, are charged into the mixer. Then, the water is mixed little by little while stirring these and the mixture is sufficiently kneaded so that the total content of water becomes <=10%. Successively, the kneaded material is charged into a briquetting machine regulated to about 3.5t/cm forming pressure to the roll width and formed to manufacture the briquette. Even when the briquette is used as the raw material for steelmaking, this can be surely charged into the furnace, and as it is hardly crushed to become dust the utilization ratio is high, and it is extremely rare that this causes explosion, fire, etc., by accumulating in a dust collector, etc. |
