<p>PURPOSE:To use the above clutch as a 2-way or a 3-way clutch by supporting an output sideshaft and an input side shaft on the inside of an outer ring through bearings, and connecting with rolling elements arranged in a wedge- shaped space between the outer ring and the output side shaft. CONSTITUTION:An output side shaft 3 and an input side shaft 5 are supported inside an outer ring 1 through bearings 2. A driving shaft and a driven shaft are connected to splines 8 to shaft connecting holes 6, 7, and both shafts 3, 5 are somewhat slidably connected to a pin 13 through a rather large pin hole 14. Furthermore, in a wedge-shaped space 10 between the outer rings 1 and the output side shaft 3, rolling elements 16, 17 are arranged with a spring 18 between them by a cage 12 engaged with the pin 13. When the clutched is used as a 2-way clutch, the outer ring 1 is rigidly fixed on a housing, and when it is used as a 3-way clutch, a torque transmitting member is fixed on the outer ring 1 to convey torque through the engagement with the wedge surface of the rolling elements 16 or 17 to use it as a 2-way or a 3-way clutch.</p> |
