FABRIC FOR SWIMMING WEAR

PURPOSE:To obtain a fabric for swimming wear with reduced friction resistance to water therein and good shape stability by substituting the outer surface of yarn, present in the surface layer part of a fabric composed of acrylic fiber with carboxyl groups and hydrophilizing the outer surface. CONSTITUTION:The surface of yarn located in a surface layer part of a fabric (e.g. knitted fabric) composed by using acrylic fiber yarn in a surface layer part thereof and elastic fiber in a back layer part thereof is hydrolyzed with an alkali to produce carboxyl groups and hydrophilize the surface. Thereby, a fabric for swimming wear, having <=0.3 average friction coefficient of the fabric surface in the presence of water and reduced frictional resistance of <=0.02 average standard deviation of variation in friction and excellent in fitness is obtained. The above-mentioned fabric is excellent in shape stability without deteriorating strength and causing trouble in durability as sportswear for violent sports.
