PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer sheet having a hue easily sublimed and thermally diffused but no thermally decomposed under a head operating condition and pref. from the aspect of color reproduction by providing a colorant layer containing a specific indoaniline type dye. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer sheet is constituted by providing a colorant layer containing an indoaniline type dye represented by general formula (I) on a base film. Since the indoaniline type dye represented by the general formula (I) has a sharp cyan color, said dye is suitable for obtaining full-color recording good in color reproducibility by the combination with a proper yellow color and a proper magenta color. Since this dye is easily sublimed and has high molecular absorptivity, recording of high color density can be obtained at a high speed without applying large load to a thermal head. Further, this dye is stable against heat, light, humidity or chemicals and not thermally decomposed during transfer recording and obtained recording is also excellent in preservability, especially, in light fastness. Since the dye is good in the solubility to an org. solvent and the dispersibility or dispersed therein is easily prepared and the thermal transfer sheet having the dye uniformly applied thereto at high concn. can be obtained. |
