The data processing system has a CRT (8) that is used to display the contents of a screen store (5). The system is coupled (1) to a main computer by a communication control circuit (2) that communicates with a transmission screen memory arrangement (3,4). A transaction programme screen memory (9) serves as an interface between the used and the transaction programme (11) held in a separate memory (10). This controls the input/output and dialogue between the user and system. Input can also be made by a keyboard (15) coupled to an input circuit (14).
