VINYL CHLORIDE RESIN COMPOSITION

PURPOSE:To obtain a vinyl chloride resin composition improved in gelling properties and transparency by mixing a vinyl chloride resin with a specified two-stage polymer. CONSTITUTION:40-5 pts.wt. mixture (a) of 20-80wt.% alkyl (meth)acrylate other than methyl methacrylate (e.g. butyl acrylate), 80-20wt.% methyl methacrylate and 0-20wt.% vinyl monomers copolymerizable therewith is polymerized in the presence of a polymer latex obtained by emulsion-polymerizing 60-95 pts.wt. mixture (b) of 50-95wt.% methyl methacrylate, 50-5wt.% alkyl methacrylate in which the alkyl group has 2-8C atoms (e.g. butyl methacrylate) and 0-20wt.% vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith (the total of components (a) and (b) is 100 pts.wt.) to obtain a two-stage polymer having a specific viscosity >=1, desirably >=2 (as measured in a solution formed by dissolving 0.4g of the polymer in 100ml of benzene at 30 deg.C) and a particle diameter <=1000Angstrom , desirably <=800Angstrom . 100 pts.wt. vinyl chloride resin is mixed with 0.1-30 pts.wt. said polymer.
