PURPOSE: To provide uniform tension distribution by reinforcing the end region having an arclike contour of a covering by a tension-belt element to which pre-load is applied in a device where a wide tension-belt element for partially reinforcing a covering of a folding top is stretched between two support frame members. CONSTITUTION: In a folding top, in cases where the top support frame is located in a closing position, a side roof frame 1 is extended along an upper area of a side window where a cabriolet is closed. The front end of the side roof frame 1 is articulated-connected to a roof covering 2 coupled to an upper frame deformed material of a front window frame, and extended backward up to a top support 3 of a main top bow 4. The top support 3 is articulated-connected to the side roof frame 1 through a roof frame connecting rod 5. A belt 9 as a wide tension-belt element is stretched between the main top bow 4 and the roof covering 2. In this case, the face of the belt 9 that is close to the top covering 13 bent at right angles to the length range of the belt 9 is supported by belt holding U-shaped pieces 10, 11 formed by a spring wire.
