The invention relates to a non-fusible electrode for an arc treatment process which includes a cooled body and a core made from an active material which is fixed therein, the transverse cross section of which is chosen in order that the prescribed arc current is ensured. According to the invention, the non-fusible electrode includes a cooled body 1, with a core 2 which is fixed therein, which has, in transverse cross-section, the form of a star with several branches, the diameter of the circumference 7 inscribed within the star being equal to that of the cylindrical core corresponding to the prescribed arc current.
