<p>Postostatin, a new physiologically active substance represented by (I), can be isolated from the culture medium of an actinomycete belonging to the genus Streptomyces. It is a peptide compound having a new structure wherein a keto group is present in the peptide chain and it has a potent endopeptidase inhibitory activity. A postostatin-related compound having a keto group in the peptide chain can be synthesized chemically and this compound has a similar endopeptidase inhibitory activity.</p> |
