PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium excellent in durability by incorporating an ether compd. expressed by the specified formula into a magnetic layer on a nonmagnetic supporting body. CONSTITUTION:The ether compd. expressed by the formula (wherein R1 is a hydrocarbon group of 2 - 30 carbons, R2 and R3 are hydrogen atom, aliphatic hydrocarbon group of 1 - 8 carbons or aryl group) is added by 0.05 - 15pts.wt. into 100pts.wt. of the magnetic material. If required, esters such as butyl stearate, fatty acid such as oleic acid or hydrocarbon such as squalene may be used as a lubricant. The ether compd. may be mixed in the coating material before coating, or diluted in a solvent such as isopropyl alcohol and applied and dried on the coating film to impregnate the film. The magnetic layer comprises magnetic powder, abrasive and antistatic dispersed in a binder such as polyurethane. By this method, the obtd. medium has good lubricating property and excellent durability. |
