TELEVISION TRANSMISSION SYSTEM WITH AUXILIARY SIGNALS

Existing colour TV transmission systems, e.g. D2-MAC, use the interlaced scanning method for image scanning. An interlaced scanning image signal meeting the current TV standards is produced by filtering and scanning a progressively scanned signal from the camera. In order to improve the TV picture while retaining compatibility, the vertical blanking interval present with normal transmission systems is used to transmit an auxiliary signal corresponding to the difference (11) between the filtered original signal (4) and the associated prediction signal (5, 12).
