The method is for replacing an already installed, non-enamelled, steel-plate cast bath (20) by an enamelled bath. It involves bending back the angled rims (22, 23) of the bath. The bent-back rims (22, 23) are then shortened and bent again to the new bath size. Before the bath rims (22, 23) are bent back at the corners of the steel-plate casting next to the sides being reduced in width, the corner edge-pieces (30) are detached. The ends of the reduced steel-plate cating and the cutting edge (31) of the corner edge-pieces (30) are matched as to angle and size. The corner edge-pieces (30) are then welded to the casting corners and the reduced steel-plate casting is the enamelled with the corner edge-pieces (30) welded to it. USE/ADVANTAGE - A replacement bath with rounded, bent back edges is easily produced from a finished steel-plate casting.
