The invention relates to a radiological system of the mammographic type in which a radiation monitor is provided, comprising a detector 22,23 for X-radiation which has passed through the breast to be examined, of the type comprising a radiation converter 22 for converting X-radiation to photonic radiation, and a photoelectric multiplier tube 23 for the photons emitted by the converter. The invention resides in the fact that the converter is masked by a strip 29 which is opaque to photonic radiation except in zones whose variable dimensions are provided in order to adapt to the different shapes of breast. The strip 29 is driven by a motor 34 and stops, under the control of the practitioner, so that the appropriate zone is aligned with the converter 22.
