PURPOSE:To provide a rear layer imparting high speed properties and high resolving power, having good running properties at high temp. and excellent stickiness preventing effect by providing a carbon membrane layer to the surface having no transfer ink layer of a biaxially stretched plastic film substrate. CONSTITUTION:A carbon membrane layer is provided to the surface provided with no thermal transfer ink layer of a biaxially stretched plastic film substrate having a thickness of 1-10mum provided with a thermal transfer ink layer. In a vacuum vapor deposition apparatus for forming the carbon membrane layer, for example, a vapor deposition source 1 due to electron beam heating is loaded with a carbon ingot and a plastic film 2 is mounted to a long substrate running system. Subsequently, a vacuum tank 3 is evacuated from an exhaust port 8 to be pref. set to 1X10<-4>Torr or less. The plastic film is payed out from a paying out shaft 4 and taken up by a taking-up shaft 6 through a drum 5 cooled to a predetermined temp. while carbon is evaporated from an evaporation source 1 and a predetermined carbon membrane is formed on the plastic film 2. |
