The invention relates to a turning tool and an idexable cutting insert therefor. The tool (10 min ) comprises a shank (11 min ) on which a stem-shaped site-equipped plate (12 min ) is mounted, a cylindrical localization pin (47 min ), an indexable cutting insert (13 min ), and a lock screw (14 min ). The cutting insert (13 min ) is oblong and the ends are provided with cutting portions. The cutting insert (13 min ) is provided with three through-going holes (26 min , 49 min , 50 min ). The fastening hole (26 min ) receives the lock screw (14 min ) and the localization hole (49 min ) receives the localization pin (47 min ). The localization hole (49 min ) is arranged such that the pin (47 min ), by displacing of the cutting insert (13 min ) by means of the screw (14 min ) in direction towards the site-equipped plate (12 min ), wedges up in the hole (49 min ). At the non-working end of the cutting insert (13 min ) the forces, which want to rotate the cutting insert around the pin (47 min ), are received by the site-equipped plate (11 min ). |
