<p>Benzoquinone derivs. of formula (I) are prepared. In (I), R1 and R2 are each Me, MeO; n is 0-21; m is 0 or 1; Z is -COR5 where R5 is alpha amino acid residue or glycosamine residue opt. substd. Esp. cpds. include 3-(6-(2,3-dimethoxy-6-methyl 1,4-benzoquinolyl) propionyl glycine. (I) may be prepd. e.g. by oxidn. of (II) where X is H, OH opt. protected; Y is OH opt. protected. (I) inhibits protocollogen proline hydroxylase and collogen biosynthesis. Also 5- lipoxygenase and is used to treat pulmonary fibrosis hepatocirrhosis nephroscleromsis, arthritis, asthma, rhibitis, urticaria.</p> |
