The arrangement has a regulating device (3) which regulates the quantity that flows out of a casting vessel and is connected to a control unit (8) which is connected to an evaluation circuit (18) influenced by the filling level of the melt in the casting mould. The intention is to regulate the flow of melt into a casting mould. The monitoring device is influenced in a contactless manner by the melt and its level in the ingate of the casting mould and is independent of external influences such as dust and the action of heat, something which guarantees good reproducibility of the filling level of the melt in the casting mould. Provided between the top side (10) of the mould in the region of the ingate (5) and the outflow opening (11) of the casting vessel (1) is at least one annular measuring coil (12), through which a current flows, which surrounds the melt stream (6) and, in accordance with the extent to which its magnetic field is influenced by the melt (9), generates a variable signal for the regulating device (3).
