Tubular filter element which is filled with packing material for reinforcement and to keep its shape is composed of a coarse-meshed inner material and an outer material attached over this, which outer material forms the actual filter medium. The filter medium is suitable for the direct filtration of solids and as a supporting layer for filtration using filter aids.
