The space coupler (RK) has several first data switches (DW11) controlled according to the path information in the message packets being transmitted, and coupled after input stores (SP). The outputs of the switches are coupled via a logical combiner (G1) to the output. To the input stores is connected a common monitor (UE) and this has separate interrogators (AE) for each store which, before transmission of a temporarily stored packet, are activated to ascertain the path information in the packet which sets the output line.
