The extended shaft (7), of a standard 3-phase motor runs in bearings (10) in an end-plate (4) through which helical springs (3) holds it slightly displaced axially. - The end-plate also carries the armature (6) of an electro-magnet (5) fixed to the stator (1) and connected in parallel with the motor. On energising, the electro-magnet pulls the end-plate some 4-5 mm towards the stator, centralising the rotor and engaging the motor drive e.g. clutch at the other end of the shaft. ADVANTAGE - More efficient than conical-rotor machines frequently employed for this duty. - (First major country equivalent to ES2011561) (5pp Dwg.No.1/1)
