Roller stand for metallic strip material - has roller gap sensor and hydraulic adjusting cylinders operating with rigid subframes to improve thickness control

Roller stand for rolling metallic strip material has two rigid subframes (9,10) positioned to one end or at either end of the housing window. The subframes are attached to the housing (1) near the floor. In order to monitor the thickness of the strip material in the roller gap, measuring sensors (12,13) are mounted on the free upper ends of the subframes and rest against an adjusting traverse (8). A hydraulic unit (6) acts on the traverse (8) via adjusting components (7) which are used to regulate the roller gap. Embodiment - In a design variation the free, upper ends of the subframes are connected by a traverse which holds the measuring sensors and through which pass the hydraulic adjusting units. ADVANTAGE - The simple design provides wear-free sensing of the strip thickness in the roller gap and avoids errors arising from deflections in the roller stand or compression of the hydraulic medium.
