PURPOSE:To enable pencil-edge grinding in a condition where the grinding groove of the grinding wheel is in agreement with the glass plate, by adapting the grinding wheel to be operable to move axially, i.e. vertically, so that the same is always in agreement with the glass line. CONSTITUTION:The grinding head 2 is made up of the grinding spindle 5, the grinding wheel 7 installed on the rotor 6 of the spindle 5, and the slide mechanism 8 for providing vertical positions for the spindle 5 and the grinding wheel 7. The wheel 7 is provided with a pencil edge in accordance with the form of the peripheral groove 17. The shaft 6 is supported so as to be operable to freely move in the axial direction. THe gringing wheel 7 is adapted so that it changes its position upward or downward as it receives force, if weak, acting thereon axially, i.e. vertically, and when the force is removed, it returns to the original balanced position. The pencil-edge grinding is thus performed in the condition where the glass plate and the grinding groove are in agreement. |
