A power transmission for a four wheel drive vehicle comprises a fluid-operated transfer clutch (45) mounted adjacent a rear differential (30) so as to transmit power to a front differential, and a fluid-operated restricting clutch (55) mounted adjacent the rear differential (30) and connected between the differential carrier and a corresponding axle so as to restrict differential operation of the rear differential (30). The engaging pressure of both clutch is controlled in accordance with driving conditions of a vehicle.
