Working a plate in a plasma cutting machine which cuts materials using a stable plasma arc, and in a plasma torch has magnetic flux focused at a density of greater than 10 gausses but smaller than 200 gausses by a magnetising unit (4) arranged near an electrode (2) of a plasma torch (100) in a range from near the surface of the electrode material (3) fastened to the tip of the electrode to near a nozzle port (1b) of a nozzle (1), and a material (26) is cut by the plasma arc injected from the nozzle (1) that has a diameter of smaller than 1.5mm. The plasma torch (100) used for this method has the magnetising unit (4) near the electrode (2) thereof, the nozzle diameter (d) thereof being smaller than 1.5mm, and the magnetising unit (4) being arranged concentric with the axis of the nozzle port (1b).
