Severing station arranged along the path of the stationary devices for conveying waste-paper bales to the pulper and intended for the bands of the waste-paper bales, characterised by 1) bearing surfaces (5) for the waste-paper bales (7), 2) at least one essentially vertical supporting wall (6) lateral relative to the bearing surfaces (5) and extending parallel to the conveying direction of the bales, 3) at least one essentially horizontally movable guide head (2) which carries a hook-like tearing member (1), 3.1) which is movable into at least two end positions, 3.1.1) one of which is at a distance from the supporting wall (6) more than the maximum waste-paper bale width in the transverse direction to the supporting wall (6) and in the direction of the bearing surfaces (5), and 3.2) which projects upwards at least partially above the bearing surfaces (5). <IMAGE>
