The invention relates to a labelling machine for articles, such as bottles. the labelling machine consists of a turntable which moves the bottles past a labelling station. So that articles can be labelled with short and long labels without much outlay and with a maximum throughput in each case, the carrier of the labelling station, on which extraction elements for the labels are arranged rotatably or pivotably, can be equipped with extraction elements for short labels or with fewer extraction elements for long labels. The dividing device is assigned an indexing gear, so that the division spacing can be varied in such a way that an article is introduced only into every second or third receiving space of the turntable.
