An insulation-piercing contact element, consisting of a stamped sheet-metal part, for fitment to a housing chamber of a connector housing made of plastic having a plug contact region and an insulation-piercing terminal region, the insulation-piercing terminal region having means for fixing the insulation-piercing contact element in a housing chamber and an essentially rectangular insulation- piercing terminal jaw base plate, from whose longitudinal side edges there is bent at right angles in each case one insulation-piercing terminal jaw into which there is incorporated an insulation-piercing terminal slot opening away from the plug contact region and on whose free longitudinal edge there is attached a contact web, bent at right angles, and the plug contact region having two spring arms, extending parallel at a distance from one another, on which contact points, bent at right angles, in the form of arcs are provided in the free end region, for contact webs forming a mating contact. A contact spring arm base plate (10) is attached via a connecting web (9) on the lateral edge, facing away from the plug contact region (2), of the insulation-piercing terminal jaw base plate (4), which contact spring arm base plate (10) is broader than the insulation-piercing terminal jaw base plate (4) and which is knocked through 180 DEG onto the insulation-piercing terminal jaw base plate (4). A supporting jaw (14), bent at right angles, is attached on each longitudinal edge of the contact spring arm base plate (10), which supporting jaw (14) extends parallel to and at a distance from the associated insulation- piercing terminal jaw (7) and, on the longitudinal edge (17) of the insulation-piercing terminal jaw (7), the contact web (18) is bent at right angles in the direction of the supporting jaw (14) and abuts against the supporting jaw (14). <IMAGE> |
