PURPOSE:To optimize shift control in accord with the level of a driver by dividing it from small to large and vice versa according to a criterion preset of engine speed, changing a shift pattern on the basis of this partition, while storing a variation range of the last speed in memory, and changing the criterion on the basis of this range. CONSTITUTION:An automatic transmission is controlled for shift by a shift pattern preset on the basis of car speed and throttle valve opening, and at least engine speed is detected, while a partition of small to large and vice versa according to a preset criterion, through which the shift pattern is changed. With this, the shift pattern is altered to an optimum one according to snarl-up traveling, high-speed and sports racing or the like. On the other hand, a variation range of the last engine speed is stored in memory, and when the range is large, as a veteran, sports-minded drive, for example, engine speed serving as a criterion of sports driving is changed to a large value. When the range is small, as a lady or aged driver, the engine speed turning to the criterion of the sports driving is set to a small value the other way. With these values, shift control is made into an optimum one for a sensation of each person. |
