The process comprises treatment of battery waste ZnCl2 soln. with ZnO to remove the Fe-3. Concentration is carried out to give oxychloride (ZnOHCl) crystals. The crystals are sepd. from the soln. through treatment with acetone and drying with ethyl ether.
