PURPOSE:To shorten the total time required for one measurement of radioactivity and to improve a capacity for safe processing by a method wherein a head detector housing is lowered at a high speed to a prescribed height above the head, the speed is switched over thereat and the element is lowered at the low speed thereafter. CONSTITUTION:A light projected from a photoelectric switch light-projecting element 17 having a plurality of photoelectric switches arranged at equal intervals in the vertical direction on the back side to several photoelectric switches of a photoelectric switch photodetector 18 provided on the front side to be opposite to the element 17 is intercepted by the head of an examine 15. Thereby the stature of the examinee 15 is measured, and based on a static measurement signal thereof, a head detector housing 5 is lowered at a high speed to a prescribed height above the position of the head of the examinee 15 and then lowered at a low speed to the head by a speed control circuit 20 of a lowering speed control device 16. Then, a light beam of a photoelectric switch 9 provided on the lower side of the housing 5 is intercepted by the head, the housing 5 is thereby stopped and thereafter measurement of radioactivity is conducted.
