PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR CONTINUOUS COMPOSTING OF BIOMASS

Continuous composting of biomasses takes place in a heat-insulated closed space. The biomass to which premixes and/or fertilisers and/or other auxiliary materials are added is heat-treated in an oxygen rich atmosphere, while its moisture content is adjusted to a final level as required. - Some of the heat produced during the exothermic aerobic decompo-sition of the biomass is assisting the process when warm exhausted air passes a heat exchanger so that heat can be transferred to the moist air feed. Continuous efficient agitation and comminution of the composting material is due to agitators associated with a screw conveyor. Biomass is fed in and composted material is removed by Augers with material damming action, additionally to ensure airtightness of the apparatus.
