PURPOSE:To improve the stability of the superconducting characteristics of a copper-free superconducting oxide in the air by substituting a di- or trivalent metallic element for part of a monovalent metallic element in the oxide contg. the monovalent metallic element and a transition metal. CONSTITUTION:A di- or trivalent metallic element (M) such as Mg or Ca is substd. for part of a monovalent metallic element (A) in a superconducting double oxide represented by a general formula AB2O4 (where A is the monovalent metallic element and B is a transition metal), e.g., LiTi2O4 to produce a superconducting oxide represented by a general formula (AM)B2O4, e.g. Li0.6 Mg0.4Ti2O4 or Li0.6Ca0.4Ti2O4 The deterioration of the superconducting characteristics with the lapse of time can be prevented and the concn. of carriers in the superconducting phase can be controlled. Accordingly, the critical temp. characteristics can be controlled. |
