PURPOSE:To enable the strength of connecting a cylinder block with a cylinder head to be increased, by integrally mounting a cylinder sleeve body of high strength in a cylinder block main unit and providing bolt holes, for connecting the cylinder head, in a deck surface of said sleeve body. CONSTITUTION:This cylinder block B has a cylinder block main unit 1 formed by casting from an aluminum alloy. Said main unit 1 comprises a cylinder part 11, providing containing space 4 for a cylinder sleeve body opening its upper and bottom, and a skirt part 12 connecting with the bottom part of said cylinder part. And the cylinder sleeve body 2, consisting of cast iron of high wearing resistance, is integrally mounted into the containing space 4 of said main unit 1 by cast molding of internal chill or the like when the main unit 1 is cast. An upper wall 8 of the sleeve body 2 constitutes a deck surface 10 cooperatively with an upper wall 9 of the main unit 1 while integrally forms plural boss parts 12, and a cylinder head can be tightened to be secured by providing a bottomed head bolt hole 13, opened to the deck surface 10, to be drilled in each boss part 12. |
