Stud welding gun - with spark screen for tangential compressed air nozzles directed around welding spot

A stud welding gun has a collet to hold the stud and a power supply to produce a main and a pilot welding arc between stud and workpiece. A magnet coil retracts the collet with the stud to strike the arc. A cylindrical spark screen has several tangential bores through which compressed air is directed in a twirl around the welding spot. This prevents any deposits of contamination around the welded spot. When used for ornamental strips in motor car bodies, it saves having to remove the deposits before further process operations.
