The parent patent described composite window frame channel profiles with an expanded plastic core clad with one or more 'L' section metal profiles. This addition describes such channel profiles made using metal covers having a flattened 'C' profile to cover the edges of a core of 'H' profile and made of cellular resin so that the bridge is thermally non-conductive. The waist of the 'H' section is shortened so that if the flanges are cut back, a push fit tongue and groove joint is possible when laid at an angle (e.g. at 90 deg.), to another foam profile. Opt. tongue joints are capped with a (removeable) elastomeric seal which is a push fit between the flanges of an adjacent frame member. The joints are readily assembled, self-aligning, and partic. suitable for frames for supporting sliding windows and associated rails.
|
