Hydrofoil with retractable hydroplanes - mounted on swivel arms and fitting in slots in the outside surface of the hull

The vessel has a hull (1) of conventional shape at the bow and stern. The hull is fitted with two pairs of vertical arms (5,6) which are able to swivel on the longitudinal plane of the vessel about top points (5a,6a). The arms are parallel to the keel. Each pair of arms supports a hydroplane float (3,4) which has a horizontal central section and sloping fins (3a and 4a) and (3b and 4b). The forward float carries the propulsion unit (20). The floats can be retracted to fit in the slots (10,11) in the hull.
