<p>Prepns. contain (A) dihydroergotamine or a salt thereof with an acid, (B) heptaminol or a salt thereof with an acid, and (C) usual carriers and/or diluents and/or adjuvants; the molar ratio of component (A) to component (B) being 1:40 to 1:2000. Prepns. are used for treatment of hypotensive and orthostatic circulatory disorders, e.g. hypotension in infectious diseases and in convalescence, and low blood pressure and pain following admin. of tricyclic antidepressants, antihypertensive agents and nitro cpds. The potency and duration of action of the combination of dihydroergotamine and heptaminol are greater than those of the individual components. Unlike etilefrine, heptaminol does not give rise to undesirable side-effects such as tachycardia.</p> |
