PURPOSE:To enable to subject polyamide fibers to a swelling processing treatment at a low temperature without producing any processing unevenness caused by the deposition of benzoic acid by carrying out the swelling processing of the polyamide fibers with an agent comprising benzoic acid dissolved in a solvent comprising a specific alcohol and water in a specified compounding ratio. CONSTITUTION:Fiber in which at least one part contains polyamide fiber or fiber containing polyamide or a structure thereof is treated with an agent containing a solvent substantially comprising an alcohol (preferably ethyleneglycol) having a boiling point of >=100 deg.C or a mixture of the alcohol and water in an amount of >=4 weight times the weight of the alcohol and also containing >=0.1mole/l, preferably >=0.2mole/l, of benzoic acid, thereby safely and homogeneously subjecting the fibers or structure to the swelling processing treatment. The employment of the agent containing a benzoic acid alkali(ne earth) metal salt and the benzoic acid in a mole ratio of 0.02-2/1 and having a benzoic acid salt concentration of >=0.05mole/l permits to prevent the generation of corrosion on the metal portions of processing machines, etc., due to the acidification of the fibers. |
