The ball mill is for grinding paint pigments to a fine powder in order to mix them with a liq.. The mill container has a square or poloygonal cross-section with hard internal faces and sharp corners. The balls have a dia. between 2.5 and 5 mm. The ratio of the length of the container to the length of the diagonal is greater than 1:1 and pref. greater than 2.5:1. This design of ball mill produced finer particles than those produced by ball mills at present in use. USE/ADVANTAGE - Grinding pigments for paint. Very fine particles of pigment may be produced.
