An envelope handling module includes pairs 80,88 of transporting rollers and a fixed transport panel 50, and a pivoted panel 38 by which envelopes can be diverted to a stacking chamber 58. Upper rollers 88 are offset at an angle of 100 to the longitudinal transport direction so as to register envelopes against side wall 46.
