Rotary printing machine - with built in preparatory facility to produce printing cylinders

A printing machine has at least one cylinder with printing surfaces which have been produced by a built-up preparatory facility. This forms the printing surfaces on the surface of a blank, which consists of hydrophilic material, a deposit to suit the desired figure, and of friendly aterisl. The system has a computer controller. Specifically the printing cylinder (4) to which the built-in preparatory facility is applied has an aluminium core (7) with a ceramic lining (9). This represents an adhesion surface for a hydrophilic lining (9) of PTFE. This ink-repellant coating receives from the preparatory facility a raised deposit (10) of an ink-freiencyl hydrophobic material e.g. a toner powder. These areas form the printing surfaces (11) as distinct from the non-printing surfaces. ADVANTAGE - Such a built-in preparatory facility saves transport and assembly work for the production of printing cylinders by e.g. an electrostatic or photostatic technique.
