PURPOSE:To fix both stopper plate and stopper member with high shock resistance by energizing the stopper plate to the stopper member side to engage the teeth of both with each other and pressing both against a fixing bracket side by means of a retainer plate at the time of rotating an operating lever up to a locking position. CONSTITUTION:The rear portion of a tilt bracket 5 for supporting the upper portion of a steering shaft is rotatably installed by a linking pin 6 on the rear portion of a fixed bracket 1 which supports the lower portion of the steering shaft via a column and which is fixed to the body of an automobile. A tilt operating shaft 22 is inserted into an arc-shaped slotted hole 21 formed on a little forward portion of the fixed bracket 1 and a stopper member 30 on the front edge portion of which teeth 30a are provided is fitted on the shaft 22. The upper end portion of a stopper plate 31 is pivotally installed on the fixed bracket 1 by means of a special pin 32 and teeth 31a engaged with the teeth 30 are formed on the rear edge thereof. A washer 17 as a retainer plate is provided between the stopper member 30 and a tilt operating lever 27. |
