PURPOSE:To enable uniform charging, to prevent pollution of the atmosphere and equipment due to ozone production, to enhance humidity resistance, and to extend service life, by treating contact material for charging the body to be charged by friction to give water repellency. CONSTITUTION:Bracket 24 to a charging device is pivotally supported on support shaft 27 in freely rotatable way, and energized anticlockwise with spring 28. A contact material consisting of cushion material 40, heater 41, insulator 42, electrode 43, conductive member 44, and shaft fiber 45 are laminated in layers on the front part of charger base 32 detachably attached to the end of bracket 24 in order to bring fiber 45 into contact with the outer circumference of photoreceptor 4. Short fiber 45 is subjected to a water repelling treatment to enhance humidity resistance, and to prevent change of charge potential caused by change of current flowing to photoreceptor 4 due to moisture absorption. |
